A Message from Pastor Jim
I share with enthusiasm our plan for the upcoming Lenten season. We will once again share ecumenical Wednesday worship srvices with our siblings in Christ from Christ the King ELCA, Grand Avenue Methodist, Parkside Community Church, Living Hope ELCA, and Lighthouse Youth Ministry. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday service on February 18 at 7:00 p.m., and we will host the ecumenical Wednesday service on March 18. Each Wednesday our host will offer a light meal at 5:30 pm followed by worship at 6:30 pm.
Working with our ecumenical partners, I look forward to using a Lenten season resource from A Sanctified Art, entitled, “Tell Me Something Good: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News This Lent.” Let’s face it, we can all use a little ‘good news’ right now. In the word of Sanctified Art, “… the good news should bring us back to our roots, back to what grounds us: loving our neighbor, caring for the vulnerable, pursuing justice and mercy, and resting in God’s unending grace.” This resource bundle has a variety of resources for worship and message preparation, daily devotionals, curriculum and resources for children, art, music, and social media resources. We will explore how to make best use of these resources for our church family.
I offer my deep appreciation for the journey that we have shared together. May we all share the ‘Good News’ of the gospel of Jesus Christ as we enter the Lenten season with “Tell Me Something Good!”
